About the Camp

KidsWorks is Desert TheatreWorks' flagship summer program — three weeks of acting, singing, dancing, and theatrical storytelling at the Indio Performing Arts Center. Since 2017, KidsWorks has been training young performers in the Coachella Valley, with over 1,000 students each year learning what it takes to bring a Broadway musical to life.

This Summer, Two Incredible Shows

Winnie the Pooh: The Musical (Ages 8–12)
A fun and playful musical perfect for younger performers. Students will bring Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and friends to life in a production designed especially for our youngest campers — focused on storytelling, creativity, and building confidence on stage.

Hadestown: Teen Edition (Ages 13–17)
A powerful and modern musical for teens ready to shine. This reimagining of the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice blends jazz, folk, and blues to tell a story of love, hope, and never giving up. The Teen Edition is adapted for young performers and offers an exciting, advanced theatrical experience.

Choose Your Schedule

HALF-DAY PROGRAM — $550
Focused training and rehearsal.

Ages 8–12: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Ages 13–17: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Includes acting, singing, dancing, rehearsals, and the final performance. Instructional time only.

FULL-DAY PROGRAM (Extended Care) — $895
The best value plus full-day care. 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Includes instructional time (based on age) PLUS supervised activities during non-instruction hours — games, movies, and crafts. Non-instruction time is supervised fun, not rehearsal or class time. Perfect for working parents who need full-day coverage.

Pick Your Path
Every student chooses how they want to be part of the show.

Performance Track (On Stage)
Act, sing, dance — and perform in the final production. This track is for students who want the spotlight.

Technical Theatre Track (Behind the Scenes)
Props, costumes, backstage crew, and tech support. This track is for students who love the magic of theatre but prefer to work behind the curtain. Every show needs a great tech team — and this is where they start.

The Final Performance
Friday, July 24, 2026 — family and friends are invited to a fully staged production of Winnie the Pooh: The Musical (morning group) and Hadestown: Teen Edition (afternoon group) at the Indio Performing Arts Center. This is where three weeks of hard work comes together — and where your child shines.
