Character Descriptions:

  • Friedrich von Trapp (Age 14): Proud to be a boy in this family of mostly girls, and an often-absent father.
  • Louisa von Trapp (Age 13): The trickster of the family, full of mischief.
  • Kurt von Trapp (Age 10, some dance): Gentle and a peacemaker. He dances the Laendler with Maria.
  • Brigitta von Trap (Age 9): Smart, reads a lot, always tells the truth, even when it may be inappropriate.
  • Gretl von Trap (Age 6): Very cute, just wants to be loved.

Character Descriptions:

  • Paul (Age 20-30): Tenor/High Baritone to G
  • Diane (Age 40-50): Mezzo Soprano with Beltto G (Also plays AIRLINE ANNOUNCER 2 / VOICEOVER / GOSPEL SINGER / MOMMY)


Character Descriptions:

  • Amber Von Tussle: Amber Von Tussle is a prom queen nightmare! She is definitely "The Corny Collins Show" favorite, but she is competitive and has a bad attitude. Amber is a great performer, so cast a young lady who can do it all.
  • Seaweed J. Stubbs: Seaweed J. Stubbs is the object of Penny's affections, and together, they are determined to defy the segregation laws of the 1960s. Seaweed can do it all! This is a great role for an experienced young African-American performer who can sing, dance and act well.​
  • Little Inez: Little Inez Stubbs is Seaweed's little sister. Little Inez gets her moment in the spotlight and is a talented singer and dancer. She tries to audition for the Corny Collins show but is turned away by Velma because she is African-American
  • Esemble
  • Other standout ensemble roles include:Gym Teacher, Cindy Watkins, Matron, Principal, Lorraine, Gilbert, Thad, Duane, Stooie, Beatnik Chick, Male Guard, Guard, Newscaster and Council Members. These roles give more texture to the lively world of 1960s Baltimore. This is truly a story about communities intersecting, so each role is significant to the production.

Audition Information

All auditions will take place at the INDIO PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (IPAC)
(45-175 FARGO ST. INDIO, CA 92201). 
The 2018/2019 season will consist of 4 plays & 4 musicals. 


Plays - Please prepare one 60 second monologue (contemporary/age appropriate). 

Musicals - If you are auditioning for a musical(s) prepare 16 to 32 bars of any song from the musical theatre genre. Please bring a copy of the sheet music in your key with you for the accompanist. No performance tracks please. If you are auditioning for musicals and plays, please only prepare a song as you will be given sides to read for the plays.  

Additionally, the directors may assign you sides to read or sing at the audition. You will be given some time to review them. Not all participants will be asked to read additional sides.  
Headshots & resumes are welcome, but not required. 

Callbacks will occur the same day as auditions. Prepare to stay for the entire audition process.
